The Brussels Griffon

Iz heard someone on Twitter talking abut a Brussels Griffon, and Iz thought they was talking about a treat at first, but it is another kind of doggie. Well, when Iz looked them up Iz thought they was kind of cute, so now Iz going to tell you what Iz learned.

About The Griffon:
They are little doggies that originate from Brussels, Belgium. Iz would bet that is where they got their name from. They has been around since the 1700’s but were not well known until the 1800’s. There are three different kinds of Griffons’: Brussels Griffon, Belgian Griffon and Petit Griffon.

Where Can They Live?
They is good apartment doggies and can live in small areas, because they is a small doggie. You can just take them for a little walk, and that is all the exercise you need to give them.

Are They Good With Other Pets and Kids?
They are good with other pets and have been known to get along really good with kitties. That is kind of weird, because we has this neighbor kitty and he annoys me soooo much. But, it is recommended that they are around the other pet when they is younger, because like all anipals – we need to get used to stuff. Griffons’ are also good with kids, but maybe not so much little kids because if a little hooman were to try and pick them up, they would not be so happy about that!

Is The Brussels Griffon a Smart Doggie?

Yes they is, because they is a terrier. All terriers are smart; just ask me and my brother Zed. Seriously though, they is smart. But, they tend to have a mind of their own and be a bit stubborn, so when it comes to training and stuff like that, they will listen when it’s convenient for them. Iz would no nothing about not listening, cuz Iz such a good doggie. Pffft!

Does They Have Behavior Issues?
They has this thing called, “Little Dog Syndrome”. This is actually very popular with the little doggies. This may cause them to be mean, or think they own the whole world. Griffons’ like to think they are always in control, but you as the owner has to make sure that does not happen. They need you to own them, not let them own you. And Iz sure you guys know my feelings about that. WE OWN THE HOOMANS! It does not take them very long to become antisocial either, so you should always have them around people. Not only does they have Little Dog Syndrome, but they can has Separation Anxiety. This can cause them to bark all the time if you is gone. If you live in a condo or apartment, you does not want them to bark all the time!

How Is Their Health?

They is known to has allot breathing problems because of their smooshed up face. More often than not, they need to have c-sections when they has puppies because the puppies apparently do not fit. Other than that, they should be all good in this department.

High and Weight:
Males and Females Height – 7-8 inches
Males and Females Weight – 6 – 12 pounds

Random Facts:
Unlike me, they is extremely picky eaters. So, that could be a problem, but if they does not like their treats and food, you can always give it to me, Iz not picky at all. A Brussels Griffon can also be called a Monkey Face – but personally Iz do not think that is that nice of a thing to say. They can live a really long time, 13 to 15 years is normal. They do not shed very much, so this may be a good doggie to has if you do not like wads of hair all over the place.

Zoie Talk:
Iz think these are pretty cool doggies, but I also think that they could be a big handful for such a little dog. Maybe Iz should trade my brodder in for one of these, Iz bet we would get along so good, cuz we is so much alike… ‘sept for the bad parts about them. PAWHA!
