Rhodesian Ridgeback

So, someone that my Mommy knows owns this huge doggie. And it is called, Rhodesian Ridgeback. Iz really like saying that for some reason! Probably because Iz never say big words like that! But anyways, this is about what Iz learned about them.

Stuff About Rhodesian Ridgeback:
So we all know that they is huge doggies, but of course they does not start out that way. They actually starts out little and wrinkly, and cute. Kind of like me now, only without the wrinkles. They are also a really cool reddish color, and if they are not reddish, Iz think you got the wrong kind of doggie. Oh and, they should have this Mohawk kind of thing going all the way down their back. Iz think this makes them cool looking. They also originate from Zimbabwe, where they were used as hunting and guard doggies.

What do they do?

Well, they does allot of things Iz sure, but the most common is Hunt. Which Iz guess is kind of cool. Iz like to hunt too, but the only thing Iz hunt in my boney and toys. And they also like to run around, so you should have a big yard for them to play in.

Are they good with little kids?
They are okay with kids, but because they get to be so big, sometimes they hurts them. But, they does not mean too, they might just knock them over a bit. Big dogs have this thing where they really does not know how big they are, they think they are little like me. But, if you have bigger kids - they will be fine.

Are they good dogs to own?
Well, Iz just going to say that they are good doggies, if you make them good doggies. They has a mind of their own, which is what I have and Iz think it is so cool. But, they need someone to be strict with them, just not meanly. They does need to be socialized when they are younger, like any other doggie. If you ignore them for too long, they might become really destructive and eat you house. So, especially when they are puppies, you probably should not leave them unattended.

Does they have any health problems?
They are a really healthy breed, but they might get hip dysphasia and cyst sometimes. But, over all they are healthy. They do need allot of exercise, so if you do not have a big yard, take them for walkies.

Height: Males ~ 26 to 27 Inches. Females ~ 25 to 26 Inches.
Weight: Males ~ 80 to 90 Pounds. Females ~ 65 to 75 Pounds.

The also live to be about 13 years old! But, of course that all depends on how well you take care of them.

Zoie Talk:
Iz like this doggie allot, although they weigh 10 times as much as me, they seem like that would be a good backup if Iz needed help. Maybe Iz trade my brodder Zed in for one of them. Although Iz know that Iz say that every time... it is the truth though. Iz need a fun brodder or sister. And, one that is not so lazy. BOL!

Does you like the pictures that we used? That is a guy that my Mommy knows that works for the news. Well, no that is not him, that is his girl doggie. You can check him out on Twitter @Chieftog.

This looks just like my neighbor's dog. I'll have to ask them if he's a Rhodesian Ridgeback. He's still a puppy and he can reach my shoulders with his paws when he stands on his back legs. He's very playful, Sadie likes him.

Hey Brian!
We saw the Rodesian Ridgeback on the National Dog Show that was on TV Thanksgiving Day. We thought they looked cool so, Zoie and the girl looked them up.

When we saw Matt's pictures of his puppy and he said she was a Rhodesian we ask if we could use her pictures. She has to be one of the cutest little puppies ever. Then we found out she could get up to 95 pounds. Zoie thought she better let people know that they start really small and irresistible but, you have to know how big they get. Not everyone will have the room for a dog this big.

I am thinking maybe I could trade Zoie in for a dog like this. BOL!

You'll have to write a story about Sadie so we can put her on our friends page. She's just to cute! I would come and play with her. Sparta the cat, ummm...not so much playing but, maybe chasing.
