Gustav Dogs Heading Home
There is some good news for all the dogs that evacuated because of hurricane Gustav.
It looks as if most of our 4 legged friends will be back home in their warm dog beds in just a few days.
They showed on TV some buddies out in their dog jackets. It looked like it was still really wet there. One dog had on a raincoat, hat, and shoes. Not sure I could be on TV in all that but, he looked pretty happy to be outside running around.
They also talked about the sewer system being OK, hmm, that would be the yard!
The news lady said to always make sure that your dogs have on a collar with their ID tags. That way if you get lost someone can find out where your home is. Even the strong winds banging can scare us. Then we tend to run, that usually just gets us lost. If we have on our rabies tag then whoever finds us can call the number, tell the person on the phone the shot number and they can tell the them where we belong and who our people are. Most times you aren’t really that far from home, maybe the people can just drive you over and get you home safe.
I have a chip but, they have to have a special machine to get that info. When all the vets and dog shelters are so busy, it may take a while to get that checked and to get home.
Getting lost can happen anytime not just in a hurricane.
Now go woof it up!
