Be Sure and Hug a Pit Bull Today

by Tomarra Email

Pit Bull Awareness Day began on October 25th 2007.
Where the good responsible people celebrate the awesomeness of these dogs, and bring awareness to what some of these dogs are used for, such as dog fighting, which is only the owners fault. It is also to show that pit bulls are really good, loyal dogs, if in the right hands.

Some have been used for rescuing and even as military dogs. I know some people do not like them, but I bet that if they needed rescued, pit bulls would not be looking to scary after all.

Some cities/counties want to put a ban on pits. Zed wrote a little bit about the ban in Denver. Which me and him both think is nothing but bull.

Denver Breed Ban is Bull

This October 18th in Richmond, VA, they have a one-mile walk. NICE people could bring their pits and proudly show them off as they did the walk.

I think it is the people’s job, as a dog owner to make sure they are trained and socialized. That goes for all dogs, we all need good owners that take proper care of us.

I mean come on, who would not want an awesome terrier. Pshh we are cute and good dogs, we are actually better then any other dog. Well, maybe I am overexerting, but ya’ know it is true.

So be sure and mark on the calendar Pit Bull Awareness Day, so we can try and change the perspective of these awesome dogs.

Vegas radio sation making fun of dog and cat blogs

by Tomarra Email

So check this out.
I was up with one of my people, and we were listen to the radio. It was very late, but we like to listen to Mix 94.1 (Local Las Vegas Station) and see what they are making fun of and talking about.

Well, it all started out with them talking about, really weird pet names, and they were having people call in saying what their pets names were/are.

Then, they got a call by this one guy and he said the stupidest name he knew was something like “Kitty Smoosh Face”. He said he had found this blog that was written by a cat. THEY MADE FUN OF IT. How dare them.

They said they wanted to find a dog blog. If my stupid human would have called in, I could have been on THE RADIO, but she was obviously not thinking.

I just don’t get how they can make fun at us, they are just jealous. Hu, just because THEY ARE LAME, does not mean we are too.

Basically, I had a chance at fame! I was excited, then BAM, this song came on, and it was all gone.

Maybe I’ll send them an email?!

Miami Dog Gets Attacked by Shark

by Tomarra Email

A man and his wife took their Rat Terrier Jake down to the beach in Miami FL. While Jake was playing in the water, he got grabbed by a 5 foot shark. The man was not going to let his dog get eaten by the shark so he jumped in to kick some tale. He beat on it, tell it finally let go of Jake.

I must say, that is a pretty awesome human to do that for his dog. I don’t know to many people that would do that. Though I don’t know to many people that live around sharks, but hey I know my bowl scares me all the time. So my people would save me from that. Ha!

To all you dogs out there, just when you think you’re having a bad day, just realize there’s dogs getting attacked by sharks. Scary stuff, aye? Yeah, that’s kind of what I thought, THEREFORE I like living in Vegas, HA! O_o

For the whole story of what happened to the man and his dog.

Working Dog Calls 911

by Tomarra Email

Oh, so there’s this super cool dog in the news.

He is a German Shepherd, his name is Buddy and he is a Working Dog, says it clearly in his little vest.

While his owner was having the seizure, Buddy dialed 911. When the operator talked, the dog whimpered for help. Then they sent help, and the guy is now ok. Who knows what would have happened if the dog was not there.

Man, I wish I could do that. SOMEONE TEACH ME HOW! Then I could like, save lives and be the talk of the block. Instead I’m writing about other cool dogs doing it. Oh I should meet that dog, he could be my best buddy – get it Buddy. HAHAHAHA. Never mined.

Denver Breed Ban is Bull

by Zed Email

I just read a story about Denver and their Breed Specific ban.

The story here is of a dog named Forrest. He happened to live on the outskirts of Denver. One day he got board, went for a stroll and found himself in Denver’s Pit Bull banned area. You will see that this story does have a somewhat happy ending considering what it could have been.
I am not a Pit Bull but, I am a terrier and above all, I am a dog brother.

What a bunch of bull, about pit bulls. Forrest the Dog Lives

For some reason people have decided that all pit bulls are dangerous.
For years it was German Shepard’s that were said to be dangerous, then Chow Chows, Doberman Pinchers, Rottweilers…..The list goes on as to what the media decides is a bad breed. Yet, for years Cocker Spaniels held the #1 spot for biting incident reports (at least in our town). No one ever stood and screamed for a ban against Cocker Spaniels! If they had that would have also made me mad!

When my people had a pit bull named Tess they attended several ADBA Pit Bull shows. All the Pits there participated in weight pulls, hang time, all around ‘good looks’… These were not pits that were specially bred to be nice; they just had nice owners that took responsibility for their dogs!

As for Las Vegas, OMD!! The dog parks here are full of Pit Bulls! They come in every size, shape, and color (some are really cute, I might add). Heck, when we all get together it is a blast! See, we dogs are not predigest or breedist. I could care less what you look like! If you want to play then I am game! Maybe the ‘officials’ in Denver should spend some time with us at the park before they start making crazy claims. And if they want to see 2 mean dogs, they should meet the Chihuahua’s down the street. Everyone runs for high ground when they get out! Even the Pit Bulls are afraid.

As one of the blogdogs here at Dogs with Accessories Blog, I want you to know that; I think Denver would better serve its community by banning stupid mean people! There are no bad dogs, just bad owners!

Ok, I will get off my doghouse and let you go read the story yourself!

More power to my 4 legged brothers and sisters! Paw Power!

Gustav Dogs Heading Home

by Zed Email

There is some good news for all the dogs that evacuated because of hurricane Gustav.

It looks as if most of our 4 legged friends will be back home in their warm dog beds in just a few days.

Dog Jacket PicThey showed on TV some buddies out in their dog jackets. It looked like it was still really wet there. One dog had on a raincoat, hat, and shoes. Not sure I could be on TV in all that but, he looked pretty happy to be outside running around.

They also talked about the sewer system being OK, hmm, that would be the yard!

The news lady said to always make sure that your dogs have on a collar with their ID tags. That way if you get lost someone can find out where your home is. Even the strong winds banging can scare us. Then we tend to run, that usually just gets us lost. If we have on our rabies tag then whoever finds us can call the number, tell the person on the phone the shot number and they can tell the them where we belong and who our people are. Most times you aren’t really that far from home, maybe the people can just drive you over and get you home safe.

I have a chip but, they have to have a special machine to get that info. When all the vets and dog shelters are so busy, it may take a while to get that checked and to get home.

Getting lost can happen anytime not just in a hurricane.

Now go woof it up!

Saving pets from Hurricane Gustav

by Tomarra Email

Down in New Orleans they have decided to make sure some of the dogs and cats will be safe this time. They’re putting them into crates and staking them into semi trucks.

They’re trying to get as many as they can. They say the animals will be safe and will be checked on (If possible) about every two to three hours.

Some people do not like the way they are doing this. Sometimes humans amaze me. I mean they don’t like the dogs and cats in such a confined small place, but would they prefer the pets stay and wait for THE HURRICANE.

Once the people get the animals to where they need to be, they have one week to be found by their owners or they'll be put of for adoption. I guess that makes since to do it that way, if they didn’t they may be bombarded with so many animals.

So many people lost their pets last time in Hurricane Katrina. This way, at least some of them will be saved. I think it’s awesome. I know if I was down there I would totally want them to do something like this.

Hopefully they have gotten allot out of there and I’m sure they will be as safe as they can be.

Though Gustav is not near as bad as Katrina, I know they didn’t want to take any chances.

People food thats not for dogs

by Tomarra Email

I know that some of you guys really like to give your dogs food off the table. Yes, I love when my people give stuff to me, BUT what you may not know is, some people food you give to your dogs could actually be harming them. So here are some tips on what to NOT give your dog.

1) Dough. It can rise in their stomach if they eat to much. Since it’s mushy most of them don’t chew it which can also make them choke.

2) Chocolate. It can cause heart problems, kidney problem and vomiting/diarrhea.

3) Onions/Garlic. They can cause dogs to lose blood cells. Or not produce them. It can cause loss of hunger. Also makes them dizzy. Though it takes quite a few pieces of onion to cause damage.

4) Avocados. YOU DON’T WANT TO GIVE THOSE TO YOUR DOG. They are absolutely horrible for them. They have a toxin in them that causes damage to their whole bodies.

5) Alcohol. Please watch out, even though you may not think you dog would get into it. If you have a beer on the table and walk off, you dog could spill it. If your dog consumes alcohol it could get alcohol poising very easily.

6) Grapes/Raisins. They can give dogs stomach and digestive system problems. Those problems can lead into vomiting, and the runs (Poops).

7) Energy Things. Any kind of energy things/bars can cause a fast heartbeat. This may lead to a heart attack.

8) Nuts. You really don’t want to give them nuts. Can cause stomach issues and intestine problems.

Always watch out at what you give them. You might not think anything about it, but it’s best to be safe then sorry.
