ASPCA and Animal Rescuing History
Animal Rescuing started in the 1800s. The first ever animal rescuing group was called SPCA – (Society of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) in Britain. Back then, they did not have animal hospitals or really anything to care for them.
SPCA was only a little animal rescue that people did not think about much. After quite a few years, Queen Victoria started bring attention to SPCA, and aloud the people to re-name it the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. From then on RSPCA became more and more popular over the years.
Then in 1866 Henry Bergh decided to start an Animal rescue here in the United States. He called it ASPCA – American Society of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. He said he was sick of seeing carriage horses being abused, and other animals, and no one ever did anything about it.
Now 100+ years later the ASPCA and RSPCA are still going and will keep going for allot of years.
I can not believe they started in the 1800s, I did not even know the world existed back then. Although, I thought everything started the day I was born... but... I guess not.
It is a good thing we have animal rescues now, because there are some mean people out there. Of course, ASPCA is not all about that, they were a huge help when Hurricane Katrina hit down in Louisiana, and they do allot of other things.
