The Basenji is a very cool looking dog. But they are kind of weird looking too. They were/are used as sight hound in Africa where they were hunting dogs. I would think they would be used for hearing, I mean look at those ears (like mine). My humans thought at first, I was MAYBE part Basenji – I would never hunt for food in Africa. Why do that when my people give me food?

Oh yeah, BTW - If they see something that looks interesting, they go after it! So you has to keep them away from roads and stuff… I hear they like to chase them!

They are very aware of everything going on around them and very nosey. So really, there is NO doing anything without them knowing about it. Kind of like me, I like to know what is going on, but that is a good thing. Sometimes my peoples don’t agree…

Basenjis are good if you don’t like them stinky dogs, because they are very clean. They clean themselves all the time, so it’s all good. They have very short hair so they do not shed all the gross hair. If you like a doggy that is soft and nice to pet, do not get one of these, because they have a rough prickly coat that is not so nice to pet.

You should be really smart with dogs if you want one of these, because they are REALLY smart – and also stubborn. Iz been told I am stubborn, but I refuse to believe it. I just choose to not listen, that is not the same thing…right?

Anyways, when they are bored, they tend to become really destructive and will eat your whole house. Even as adults. You got to give them so much exercise – they are always so hyper and wanting to go-go-go. Bas doggies are good with kids and other animals – so maybe they could have a play mate and would be less likely to get bored?

All Basenjis have white feet like they are wearing boots, curly tails, wrinkled forehead and those awesome big ears. I has all those too, without the head wrinkles. OMD maybe I AM part senji?

They are a medium size dog – not that big. They look allot bigger in pictures!

They are pretty good doggies. I would not mind if I was part of them. I just have this tiny problem with the wrinkled heads. O_O
