4th Of July Safety Tips For Dogs
Well, as you guys all know 4th of July is coming up and if you are an anipal and you have been through this you are probably dreading it. Iz going to be giving your hoomans some advice so they can TRY and keep you happy and healthy though this Independence Day! BOL!
Iz never been through this type of thing, this will be my first but Iz heard some really bad stories on what it does to your ears. And Iz got huge ears so Iz can only imagine what the heck that will do to them. Maybe Iz have to learn how to put them down for awhile.
Zed is pretty good about the whole boom boom thingy, but he is the only dog that will sit in front of the vacuum cleaner until it hits him over and over. Nothing much phases him. Not all doggies are like that though.
Here are some helpful tips on how to keep your pooch calmer during the 4th of JULY.
Make Your Doggie Sleepy:
Try to wear your doggie out. No Iz do not mean WEAR them, Iz mean get them tired. Take them for a really big walk or play with them all day that day to try and get them sooo sleepy that they just want to sleep the whole time. Not that is likely to happen, but it will help, and who knows. Maybe it will do the trick and your doggie will crash for the night without a problem. PAWHAHA – Iz don’t like sleeping all night. Why does that when you can make your hoomans play with you?
Block Out The Noise With TV or Radio:
Because fireworks is so noisy. Try to block some of that noise out by putting on the radio or TV. Don't turn it up to loud or it won't help their ears. But just enough that it will block some of it out.
Anti Anxiety Medication For Dogs:
If your dog is prone to anxiety attacks you might want to contact your vet and see if they can give you some kind of medication to knock them out. Not that this is highly recommended and you should not do this all the time, but just if you have the kind of doggie that gets REALLY worked up. You wouldn't want them to have some kind of heart attack and just the stress in general can harm their health. Only if you absolutely have to, you can do that.
Give Them Their Toys, Blankets...etc To Keep Them Comfortable:
Make sure that they have all their favorite toys out and their blankets and things that may distract them or make them feel comfortable. Yous do not want to lock them up either. Do not think that if they is in a small area that they will be better off. That will only give them claustrophobia and make them more anxious.
Don't Take You Doggie Near The FireWorks:
Do not EVER take your dog to an event where they is going to be having fireworks, that would be the worst thing you could do.
Hopefully these things helped you out a little bit. Iz worried 4OJ because Iz heard bad things, but my hoomans will take care of me. BOL!
